Experience
Thomas has been a qualified solicitor since 2020 and has practised family law since 2016. Thomas graduated with a first-class law degree, scored “outstanding” in the qualifying exam for barristers, achieved a “distinction” in the qualifying exam for solicitors, was awarded the Resolution Family Law Prize in 2019 and has previously published his LLM Legal Masters dissertation on the subject of spousal maintenance.
Based at the Durham office, Thomas specialises in all aspects of family law including divorce/dissolution, separation, all associated financial matters, pre and post nuptial agreements, separation and cohabitation agreements, private children matters, cohabitation claims and disputes, and disputes and proceedings involving the Local Authority.
Thomas is a member of the Law Society Family Law Advanced Panel which is the highest level of accreditation given by the Law Society for family law cases after a vigorous and complex assessment process. Thomas is currently one of only 16 solicitors in the North Eastern Circuit with this level of membership and remains currently the only solicitor in and around Durham City to be a member.
Thomas is also a member of the Law Society Children Law Panel which is a mark of excellence, demonstrating that solicitors have the necessary skill, experience and knowledge to represent children through their children’s guardian or taking instructions directly from children, parents and other family members in a variety of sensitive and complex cases.
Thomas also retains a keen interest in rental re-possession claims and continues to act for landlords from private single property landlords to nationwide Public Limited Companies.
